🚨🚨🚨Stop spending money on Policy 713 legal challenge by 5 p.m. Thursday or I’ll move to dissolve you, Hogan tells Moncton-area education council https://t.co/9IDorm0Ae7
— Jacques Poitras (@poitrasCBC) May 1, 2024
New Brunswick Education Minister Bill Hogan is threatening to dissolve the Anglophone East district education council if it doesn’t stop spending money on its legal fight with the province. The minister wrote a letter to the council requesting confirmation of his demands by 5pm today. Hogan says that the money the DEC has spent on lawyers fighting the province’s changes to Policy 713 on sexual orientation is “evidence that the resources of the DEC are being expended in an irresponsible manner.” The Anglophone East School District says that the changes to Policy 713 risks violating the rights of students under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, the Education Act and the provincial Human Rights Act.

Missing 46-year-old man https://t.co/YwetHy6zmb #DorchesterCape pic.twitter.com/QxWufEPkBj
— RCMP New Brunswick (@RCMPNB) May 1, 2024
Sackville RCMP is asking for the public’s help to locate a missing 46-year-old man from Dorchester Cape. Pierre Arsenault was last seen on the evening of April 23rd, on Route 935 in the community. He is described as being approximately five feet seven inches (170 centimetres) tall, and weighing approximately 145 pounds (65 kilograms). He has brown eyes and brown hair. He has a long beard and tattoos on his chest and arms. He was last seen wearing camouflage pants and an orange jacket. Anyone who may have seen him since April 23, or who has information on his whereabouts is asked to contact the Sackville RCMP at 506-364-5023.
The Province says it has set aside almost $4.5 million to help improve water quality at Parlee Beach. The long standing water issues at Parlee are nothing new…and several governments have done work to try and fix the issues at one of the province’s top tourist attractions. The Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture says that work on a water runoff collection & purification system started back in February. They say that once that project is finished the tidal inlet and creek near Parlee Beach will get dredged. Last year, Parlee Beach had 21 no-swim advisories because of poor water quality issues.
