NB GAS PRICE UPDATE: Regular gas prices did NOT change at all last night in New Brunswick (that’s two misses for the experts this week…that’s why we always say this feature is “for entertainment purposes only” 😉 ). Diesel dropped 2.2 cents. Furnace oil is down 2.1 cents. It’s a different story across the border in Nova Scotia where gas prices went UP almost 10 cents! Gas is almost 5 cents a litre cheaper here in Moncton this morning than it is in the Amherst area.
NB fuel prices (current maximums):
⛽Regular self serve – $1.85.2 a litre
⛽Diesel – $1.86.1
🛢️Furnace oil – $1.53.5
🔥Propane $1.23.7

Peace officers with the Department of Justice and Public Safety raided a bunch of illegal marijuana stores across the province earlier this month…including a couple here in Moncton & Riverview. One at Queen-E Smoke and Vape Outlet at 540 Pinewood Rd. in Riverview…the other at another Queen-E Smoke and Vape Outlet in Moncton at 1631 Mountain Rd.
A 55-year-old Maple Hills (Lakeville district) woman was arrested, 57-year-old Moncton man, a 42-year-old Moncton woman and a 23-year-old Shediac man were arrested at both locations and face charges under the federal Cannabis Act. The province is reminding folks that there are also penalties for those who purchase and possess illegal cannabis, not just for those who sell and distribute it. Cannabis NB and approved private retail partners are the only legal retailers of cannabis products in New Brunswick.More: https://www2.gnb.ca/content/gnb/en/news/news_release.2024.04.0158.html
Environment Minister Gary Crossman says the provincial government plans to return 18-million-dollars in carbon tax revenue collected from the New Brunswick’s biggest emitters back to them in subsidies. Crossman says the revenue will be used to incentivize big industry players to lower their emissions, something the carbon price itself it supposed to do by making emissions more expensive. Figures show the system brought in 12.8-million dollars form the electricity sector and 6.4-million from industry. That’s far less than the 170-million-dollars New Brunswick consumers paid in provincial carbon tax in 2022-23, the final full year before the federal system replaced it.
