NB GAS PRICE UPDATE: Regular gas prices increased 5.3¢ a litre overnight. The new maximum for regular self serve is $1.85.2 a litre. Diesel stayed the same. Furnace oil is down two tenths of a cent. In Nova Scotia gas prices are up 3.1 cents. Diesel increased 2.6 cents. If you’re traveling gas prices are three or four cents cheaper a litre in the Amherst area than they are here in Moncton.

A campaign consultant hired by the PC Party of New Brunswick has gotten a side job…a taxpayer-funded position in the office of Premier Blaine Higgs! Steve Outhouse, whose company Just Campaigns is billing the PC Party for election-related services, is now Higgs’s principal secretary. Outhouse says he’ll continue the PC party role in his ‘off-work time’ while getting paid by the taxpayers to be Higgs’s principal secretary. More:

Premier Blaine Higgs says he didn’t expect his changes to gender inclusivity policy 713 in New Brunswick schools to make national headlines. Speaking at a conservative gathering called “Canada Strong & Free” in Ottawa yesterday he also said that he didn’t expect other provinces to follow suit, but now he’s watching the policy changes in Saskatchewan & Alberta closely.
A 51-year-old man is dead after a vehicle crash in Canaan Station, northwest of Moncton. RCMP say the single vehicle crash was reported around 7 a-m Wednesday. The man was the only one in the vehicle. Police haven’t said what led to the crash and say an investigation is ongoing.

The City of Moncton is letting Mapleton Park users know about some details surrounding the 2024 Moncton Dog Runners Spring Fast Fox Race on Saturday, April 13.
Trail Closures:
– From 7 a.m. until 12 p.m.: A full closure of Mapleton Park’s Floodplain Trail.
– From 7 a.m. until 2 p.m.: A full closure of Mapleton Park’s Wetland Trail.
These trail closures are required for the safety of race participants and park users. Spectators are welcome to attend, however, dogs are not permitted on the course.
