It’s finally SOLAR ECLIPSE day! Here in Greater Moncton the partial eclipse will start at about 3:25pm and will be at it’s maximum at 4:36pm…then it’s more partial eclipse until about 5:43pm. We get 99.8% of the eclipse…but a wide swath of New Brunswick will get “maximum totality”…100% of the eclipse. A lot of people heading to the Miramichi for this…they’re in the 100% area. More info: https://www.theweathernetwork.com/explore/solar-eclipse?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=weathernetwork#eclipse-timetables.
Here in Moncton there’s a festival: https://www.experiencemoncton.ca/article/eclipsol-moncton-solar-eclipse-festival.
The NB government has issued a warning to those who plan on viewing the total solar eclipse…. Dr. Yves Leger, the province’s acting chief medical officer of health, says looking directly at the eclipse without eye protection could damage your vision and cause blindness. Leger says observers should use certified eclipse glasses that meet I-S-O standards, being careful to follow the directions that come with this special eyewear. ☀️ Reminder: All students in Anglophone East School District will be dismissed early on April 8th, to allow students to safely arrive at their after-school destinations before the solar eclipse begins. Schools will communicate directly with families the dismissal time.☀️ pic.twitter.com/HhUUTZELqs
