Oh…and ICYMI…New Brunswick electricity prices will be increasing by 4.8% on April 1st. For a residential customer with an annual power bill of $3,000, the new prices will add $144 plus HST in yearly charges. You might remember that N.B. Power originally applied for an 8.9 per cent increase in its rates in early October, which would have been the highest rate increase in 40 years.

The Nurses Association of New Brunswick says it is making it easier for nurses from other parts of Canada to work in the province.https://t.co/vwTH10Wv7z
— Global New Brunswick (@Global_NB) March 30, 2023
Provincial Health Minister Bruce Fitch says he welcomes new rules that speed up the registration and licensing process for nurses from other parts of Canada to work in New Brunswick. The Nurses Association of NB made changes this week that include waiving criminal background checks and application fees. The association says it’s working on a plan to also make the registration and licensing of internationally educated registered nurses happen faster to help address the shortage of nurses in the province.
The association’s CEO says the changes are a short-term solution and comments that the province also needs to update the Nurses Act.
The Anglophone East School District says it will be holding public consultations about the proposed changes to school grade reconfigurations and also boundary changes because of increased student enrollment and overcrowding: There will be two public engagement sessions (The second session will be a repeat of the first, therefore you will not need to attend both sessions.)
Consultation One:
• Date: Tuesday, April 11th
• Time: 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.
• Location: Harrison Trimble High School Auditorium (80 Echo Drive, Moncton)
Consultation Two:
• Date: Wednesday, April 12th
• Time: 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.
• Location: Harrison Trimble High School Auditorium (80 Echo Drive, Moncton)

The Anglo East communications department will follow up with the process and your place in the speaking order at the consultation you select to attend. *To give opportunity for all to take part, it is important that ideas and feedback be limited to a maximum of three minutes.
Some big changes might be coming to the Anglophone East School District. Superintendent Randolph MacLean says that the district is growing at an unprecedented level…Anglo East has grown by more than 1,500 students since the school year began! There are now well over 18,000 students in the district. That’s forcing officials to come up with some creative ways to fit all of those kids into overflowing schools…so there are some proposed changes to school boundaries and designations that they’re thinking about…some of the suggestions include:
– The new school being built next to Bernice MacNaughton High School becomes a middle school and K-5 students remain at Bessborough School.
– Maplehurst Middle School & Northrop Frye becoming K-8 schools
– Changing Riverview East School from a K-8 facility to a K-5, and moving almost 300 students from that school to Riverview Middle School.
– Changing some school boundaries in Riverview, Dieppe & Shediac Cape and sending some students to schools in Hillsborough, Dorchester, Sackville & Port Elgin.
It’s important to note that these are just proposed changes…the next step is to consult with parents. It’s not an issue that’s going to go away though…current Anglo East enrolment projections predict the population of the district will grow to over 22,000 by 2028, which would require nine more schools to be built!
This weekend is the Town of Riverview Maple Fest Maple Brunch at the Riverview Lions Club! Donald Trump continues to make history…he’s the only U-S president ever to be impeached twice…and now he’s the first former President ever to be indicted by a grand jury on criminal charges. The investigation is about hush money payments that were made to a porn star and a former Playboy model. The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office says prosecutors have reached out to Trump’s lawyers to arrange for him to surrender, which could happen early next week.
