The Town of Riverview says that it’s buying more land to expand the popular Mill Creek Nature Park. The Town says the purchase of two parcels of land next to the park will cost about $300,000. A washout has closed part of Route 106 West, which connects Moncton to the village of Salisbury.
https://t.co/qHlGlAyO4E— Global New Brunswick (@Global_NB) January 11, 2023
Salisbury Mayor Rob Campbell is calling for action from the province after a washout has cut off a main route in and out of the village. Route 106 West was closed more than a week ago after a series of storms washed out the road bed underneath… that route also serves as the village’s Main Street. Campbell told Global News in an interview on Wednesday that it’s not the only route in the community that’s in need of repair. Construction crews are currently working on installing a temporary bridge that will open one lane on Route 106 by the end of January. Campbell said he would be meeting with Transportation Minister Jeff Carr to discuss Salisbury’s road issues in the coming weeks https://globalnews.ca/news/9403691/salisbury-n-b-mayor-calls-for-action-deteriorating-roads-washout/?utm_source=%40Global_NB&utm_medium=Twitter

CHRISTMAS TREE DISPOSAL INFO:
City of Moncton: There are several Christmas tree drop-off locations around the city until the end of the month:
– Mapleton Park (Gorge Road)
– Crossman Community Centre
– Crowley Farm Road (ballfield)
– Moncton Coliseum parking lot
– Former Dud James Arena parking lot
You can also drop-off trees at ECO360 off of Berry Mills Road.
City of Dieppe: This year’s real Christmas tree pickup will be on Wednesday, January 11th. Details: www.dieppe.ca/garbage.
Town of Riverview: The Town will again offer its free Christmas tree pick-up alongside regular garbage collection. During the week of January 9, 2023, place your natural tree curbside on your regular pick-up day for collection. Please ensure that all decorations, tinsel and lights are removed from the tree. (Due to demand, your tree may be collected a few days after your regular waste pick-up day.)
Meanwhile, as we now officially enter the winter months, Town officials request that residents place garbage bags a few feet from the end of their driveways, not atop snow banks. If not possible, please reduce the size of your snow bank before placing bags to reduce the risk of injury for both residents and waste collectors. Please keep in mind the winter parking ban which prohibits parking on Town streets from midnight to 7 a.m. until March 31.
A battle right to the end — 5 goals in the 3rd period.
