CTV year end interview with Premier Blaine Higgs:
CTV Atlantic chief anchor Todd Battis recently sat down with New Brunswick Premier Blaine Higgs in Fredericton to discuss the debate over French immersion, health care and more in a year-end interview. https://t.co/7JHBlYXxpQ
— CTV Atlantic (@CTVAtlantic) January 1, 2023
– The Premier defends the changes to the French immersion for Anglophone students in the province saying that “not enough children are graduating with the ability to speak French”. *Starting in September, kindergarten to Grade 1 students will spend half the day in “exploratory learning” in French and the other half being taught in English for subjects like math, reading and writing.
– Higgs says New Brunswick is in a “period of change” when to comes to health care. The premier added that community health-care is going to be “more of a focus” in the province’s future.
– He says he hasn’t decided yet whether he’ll lead the PCs into the next election but he did say there are still things he wants to accomplish.

Town of Riverview Christmas Tree Pick Up Info: During the week of January 9, 2023, place your natural tree curbside on your regular pick-up day for collection. Please ensure that all decorations, tinsel and lights are removed from the tree. (Due to demand, your tree may be collected a few days after your regular waste pick-up day.) Meanwhile, as we now officially enter the winter months, Town officials request that residents place garbage bags a few feet from the end of their driveways, not on top of snow banks. If not possible, please reduce the size of your snow bank before placing bags to reduce the risk of injury for both residents and waste collectors. Please keep in mind the winter parking ban which prohibits parking on Town streets from midnight to 7 a.m. until March 31.
