A child was seriously injured yesterday morning when an SUV swerved to avoid a stopped school bus in the Irishtown area. Police say just before 8am the school bus stopped, put it’s stop sign out and had lights flashing…the SUV traveling behind it didn’t realize it had stopped and turned toward the ditch to avoid hitting the bus…and hit a five year old boy waiting at the bus stop. According to police the child has serious injuries..but not life threatening. Police are investigating and could lay charges of failing to stop for a school bus…but are also looking into whether anything criminal happened. An Anglo East spokesperson tells the times & transcript that the bus was picking up kids for Mountain View School. Police are asking anyone who witnessed the accident to call the Riverview Detachment at 387-2222.
Gas prices are supposed to DROP another couple of cents tonight. Most places around Greater Moncton are selling regular self serve for just under $1.13 a litre.
