Liberal leader Brian Gallant announced on Twitter last night that Restigouche-Chaleur Liberal MLA Daniel Guitard will stand for the New Brunswick Speaker’s role. With no other names, the 59 yr old Guitard is likely to be acclaimed Tuesday.
Meanwhile, PC leader Blaine Higgs was interviewed on CTV last night and said “he knows Gallant’s throne speech will make promises to everyone, but he and the entire Tory caucus will vote against it anyway…It is clear his government’s days are numbered and it is shameful that he is prolonging this,” Higgs said.
Because of debate and other formalities, it’s not expected there could be a vote on the throne speech before Nov. 2.
