An explosion at the Irving refinery rocked Saint John yesterday morning shortly after 10am. Officials are reporting that four people were treated for non life threatening injuries even though there were about three thousand people working at the refinery yesterday. Flames and huge column of smoke could be seen for miles. Irving says they think the cause was a malfunction at the refinery’s diesel treating unit.

Further on Hurricane Michael: a track through the Florida panhandle may be devastating. More than a dozen models keep the post-tropical version of the storm S of NS but closer to Avalon. This track typically would have strongest winds well offshore NS; heavy rain closer to coast. pic.twitter.com/zWcoadcy4Q
