Another big promise on the campaign trail. The Liberal government is pledging to modernize provincial liquor laws. Premier Gallant says the Liberals will allow convenience stores to sell booze and restaurant patrons to bring their own bottle of wine to restaurants if they’re reelected next Monday.

Dieppe Boulevard, between Nathalie and Guylaine streets, will be completely closed to traffic from September 17 to 19, inclusively, to allow for the installation of underground conduits. Detour signs will be in place.

The Moncton Wildcats wrapped up the pre-season with a win over Saint John in Bouctouche yesterday. The Cats will open the season on the road Thursday night at the defending Memorial Cup Champs in Bathurst. Moncton’s home opener is at the Avenir Centre on Friday, September 28th against the Sea Dogs.
