Ward 4 councilor Paul Pellerin said he’ll make a motion today at Moncton’s committee-of-the-whole meeting to halt the construction of the East End Pool so it can be redesigned. Last week council was surprised to learn the new 2.3 million dollar pool is only a meter deep. It was assumed the replacement pool would be similar to the old East End Pool which featured a diving board and a deep end. Despite the city’s claims that councilors were aware how deep the new pool would be, Pellerin tells the Times & Transcript he went back through many documents on the pool and could find no indication of how deep it was going to be.
