RCMP are investigating an accident that killed two people yesterday afternoon on Route 15 near Shemogue. Police tell the Times & Transcript that the crash happened some time before 4 p.m. between two SUVs that were both traveling west on the highway. Two people in one vehicle were killed and two other people in that vehicle were taken to hospital by ambulance with serious injuries. Police say the two people in the other vehicle weren’t injured. The highway was closed most of the night for the investigation but is back open this morning.

Codiac RCMP continue to investigate yesterdays early morning motorcycle accident on the Bourque road which claimed the life of a 16 year old Dieppe boy. Police say the crash happened sometime overnight and the victim was only discovered early Tuesday morning by someone passing by.

After 3 years of planning and construction, Moncton’s new 8800 seat downtown events center was celebrated yesterday by local dignitaries. The highlight of the day came when keys to the 113 million dollar facility were symbolically handed over to Mayor Arnold and the events center GM Nick Deluca. According to Deluca the arena is 90 to 95 percent completed and is set to open on time. The Mayor said the doors to the centre will open to the public in early September for a tour.
