Ryan Street in Moncton’s north end will be CLOSED for several hours on Wednesday between Hildegard Drive and Coriander Street. The closure, from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. , will allow installation of water and sewer lines for a new daycare. Delays are expected and traffic will be slowed. City council approved a property rezoning request to allow construction of a 140-child daycare.

We mentioned that a group recently came before Moncton City Council with a petition asking for a ban on single use plastic bags in the city…Now we’ve found out that Moncton will meet with Dieppe and Riverview to discuss the possibility of a Greater Moncton ban in June. The Atlantic Director for the Retail Council of Canada tells Global News that plastic bag bans should be talked about province wide instead of on a local level…Jim Cormier says that at least then everybody is following the same set of rules and it doesn’t impact business.

We’re into day 6 of a complete fire ban right across the province of New Brunswick…officials say that there have been 90 fires reported so far this burn season…that’s way up over the 24 that were reported as of May 14th last year.
