The death toll from Friday’s hockey bus crash near Tisdale, Saskatchewan has risen to 16. The athletic therapist for the Humboldt Broncos junior hockey team, 24-year-old Dayna Brons, died of her injuries Wednesday afternoon in a Saskatoon hospital. Today, the first of 16 funerals will be held with a memorial ceremony for 29-year-old radio announcer Tyler Bieber at the Broncos’ home arena. Bieber was in his first year as a play-by-play announcer for the Humboldt Broncos. He also coached high-school football and basketball.

Financial support is still pouring in for the families of the 16 dead and the 13 injured survivors of Friday’s horrific bus crash in rural Saskatchewan. A “GoFundMe” campaign has now surpassed 9.2-million dollars — a Canadian record and among the five most successful campaigns ever on the crowdfunding platform — thanks to more than 110-thousand donors in 65 countries.

NHL playoffs…The Winnipeg Jets won their first post-season game EVER, beating the Minnesota Wild 3-2 in Game 1 of their Western Conference playoff series. Sidney Crosby scored three goals as Pittsburgh beat the Flyers 7-0 in Game 1 of their series…and the incredible first season continues for the Vegas Golden Knights. Marc-Andre Fleury made 30 saves for his 11th career playoff shutout and Vegas beat the Los Angeles Kings 1-0.
