Police say that a a Moncton man caught drinking and driving on the weekend was four times over the legal limit! Miramichi Police got several calls about a vehicle all over the 126 between Rogersville and Miramichi on Saturday evening…even driving on the wrong side of the road! Apparently police met the vehicle as it entered city limits but the man refused to stop….police ended up having to use equipment to blow out the guys tires but he STILL drove about another kilometre before stopping!

NB Power wants to charge us a “weather tax”. The utility has applied to the EUB to bill customers a surcharge to pay for response to nasty weather events like last year’s ice storm. NB Power is apparently having trouble meeting profit targets and they blame some unusual weather events for part of that.

The Times & Transcript is reporting that the Town of Riverview has proposed a $1.6 million project to add more lanes to the Gunningsville Bridge while the Causeway is shut down in 2020. The causeway closure will add an estimated 27,000 vehicles a day to the bridge traffic…which already sees more than 36,000 vehicles a day. The town’s proposal doesn’t mean adding anything to the bridge…but would temporarily remove stuff to make more room. The Town of Riverview is budgeting $800,000 for the project but they need to get another $800,000 from the province to make it happen.
RCMP are saying it was an air pistol that was used by a 15 year old boy in an incident at Riverview High School last week. Reports that someone with a firearm threatened a student in a school washroom led to the school being locked down in the hold & secure protocol. RCMP arrested the 15 year old, later releasing him on a promise he’ll appear in provincial court May 23rd. Meanwhile, school officials say the student won’t be allowed back into the high school until a security assessment is done.
