More on that accident involving the ambulance Tuesday night on highway 11 near Bouctouche. Apparently some people driving by in an SUV stopped to help and the guy that crashed into the ambulance tried to car-jack them! When the driver of the SUV stepped out, the driver of the car climbed into the SUV and attempted to flee the scene with the passenger still inside. The SUV owner started wrestling the guy for control of the wheel…somehow the passenger gets pushed out of the moving vehicle! Then the SUV crashes into a ditch and the suspect tried to run away. They called in RCMP Police Dog Services and they got him. The passenger of the SUV was taken to hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries. No one else was hurt. Bradley Mitton, a 30-year-old Moncton man, appeared in Moncton Provincial Court yesterday, and was charged with failure to remain at the scene of an accident, theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and assault causing bodily harm.

Here we go again. Property tax notices in the mail. Province notes taxes for many may go up despite freeze: “While the property assessment will remain at the 2017 level, 49 per cent of local governments have increased their tax rate” https://t.co/VC5t5M7gGb pic.twitter.com/YV1FtNfqnY

Keep an eye on the mailbox… property tax notices are being mailed out by the province this week. It’s not likely to be as exciting as last year was…what with the whole “property tax assessment scandal”…the province put a freeze on assessments this year…and according to the government explanation that means that 84% of residents won’t see any change in their assessments…and 12.5% might actually see their bill get lowered. Of course the province does note that while they’re frozen assessments…about half of local governments in New Brunswick have INCREASED their tax rates…so your bill may go up anyway. Meanwhile they continue to try and fix the problems that caused all of the issues last year.
