What happened yesterday to cause an all-day outage in Moncton and Riverview?https://t.co/TAHzDBYtik
— NB Power (@NB_Power) January 21, 2018
NB Power says the mostly all day power outage for nearly 13,000 customers in Greater Moncton on Saturday was due to “an equipment fault that happened in a remote location at an intersection of two transmission lines feeding three separate substations.” In other words…it’s complicated. They also owned up to the fact that the website displayed incorrect information about when customers were getting their power back. People got frustrated…there was a LOT of complaining on social media. Tip of the hat to the line crews for getting out to the remote location and getting the lights and heat back on. We appreciate it.

Codiac RCMP are investigating an incident that happened on the Riverview Causeway just after midnight yesterday. Police told the Times & Transcript that a car hit the concrete median when it was traveling toward Riverview. There were two people in the vehicle…and neither one would admit to police that they were the driver. Police are investigating to see if maybe there was a third person that fled the scene…they’re also looking for witnesses to the crash.

A train crashed into a snowmobile in Petiticodiac on Saturday! RCMP tell the Times & Transcript that it happened about 3pm on Saturday when the skidoo got stuck in the tracks where they cross Hood Street…apparently the owner was seen walking away when the train hit the snowmobile…and nobody was hurt. One witness in the neighborhood told the paper that the train was going full speed when it hit the skidoo and he didn’t hear any horn. RCMP have turned the investigation over to the CN Police.

Farmer’s Dairy says it’s voluntarily pulling some of it’s milk products from stores after some customers reported a “chemical taste”. The company said in a statement posted to its Facebook page Saturday: “This withdrawal is only preventive and there is no health risk associated with consuming these products.” Farmer’s says that the products include 2% milk, 1% milk, chocolate milk and 3.25 % milk….and that they’ve narrowed the problem down to a specific production run and they feel the problem is an isolated one. They haven’t said what the problem is but one customer in the Halifax area told the CBC that his chocolate milk tasted like bleach.

Unfortunate 104-116 loss to the Highlanders. Cape Breton played a ferocious game and finally got one on us after we took that last 4 in tight finishes!
