An artist conception of signage for the new Downtown Moncton Events Centre seems to confirm earlier reports that the Centre will in fact be sponsored by Pepito’s Hawt Sauce and be named the Pepito’s Hawt Sauce Centre.
Speculation has been growing since Mayor Dawn Arnold was interviewed on a Moncton radio station recently. The mayor was at the station to announce that a Keith Urban concert had been booked for September. While she remained tight-lipped about the name of the multi-million dollar Centre, Mayor Dawn did say that a name was coming soon.
Anonymous sources close to the City say that Pepito’s was not the first corporate sponsor approached to sign a deal, but the City is “More than Satisfied.”
It’s being reported that Pepito’s will receive exclusive naming rights for 35 years with first refusal rights for an additional 10 year extension. In return, Pepito’s will pay a sponsorship fee of $8000 per year and must offer free condiments at all concession areas.
Darlene Johnstone at Pepito’s Northeast headquarters in Elizabeth, New Jersey said that the company was excited to come to Moncton, calling it the ‘chub city of the Maritimes.’
