Greater Moncton Weather: (Extended forecast HERE)
*There’s a SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT about some snow tomorrow
Today: Mainly sunny. High minus 8.
Tonight: Clouding over. Snow beginning near midnight. Low minus 12 but up to minus 9 by morning.
Tomorrow: *Snow & blowing snow. 10 cm (possibly 15 cms) . Windy (gusting to 60). Temperature steady near minus 9.
*This is a weather system that’s coming up the East Coast and it looks like (as of right now anyway) that Nova Scotia is going to ge the worst of it…like double the snow amounts expected here…but forecasters say that even a slight change in the track could change things drastically for us…
While there is uncertainty in the total snowfall depth (depends on track, ice pellets mix or density of snow), it’s fair to say Tuesday will be messy for all of NS, PEI and SE NB. Prepare for 15-25cm. Snow ends overnight Tues night xcp Wed am CB. Another messy system Friday. pic.twitter.com/Y3NNhWhbFe

A close call for a Sussex area hockey team yesterday morning. Their bus swerved to avoid a sliding tractor trailer and ended up in a snowbank while traveling on the TCH outside of Fredericton. Fire officials said the accident sent three people to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, but none were from the bus, which was carrying around 20 people.

The group going after a CFL team for the Halifax area put some prospective team names on Twitter yesterday and people got all whipped up…one of the proposed names is “The Halifax Explosions”…They tweeted that idea out with some uniform concepts and this statement: “100 years ago a force was unleashed that made this city stronger, bigger, and more united than ever before. Now, we channel that force onto the football field as we flatten all that stands in our way. ” People got mad. One person said “You want to profit off the deaths of 2,000 people? It’s in really poor taste”. There were some other names and uniform ideas tweeted out…including the “Atlantic Tidal Boars”…and the “Atlantic Acadians”. See more HERE.

Funny article from CBC on the weekend about weird New Brunswick bylaws…like in Sussex there’s still a law on the books that prohibits loud piano playing and also noisy phonographs. You’re not allowed to walk in downtown Fredericton holding a snake. In Edmundston you’re only allowed to have two garage sales a year. Here in Moncton there’s a no splashing law…Section 2(h) of Moncton’s use-of-streets bylaw states “no person shall drive a motor vehicle on any street so as to splash water, mud or snow on a pedestrian.” You can be fined up to $175 for that one.
