According to new test results there’s a big difference between kids that are in French Immersion and those that are in what they call the “core program”. Ninety-four per cent of Grade 9 immersion students did well on their English-language assessments compared with 74 per cent of students in the core program. The president of the New Brunswick Teachers Association says the test results show “the need for more resources in non-immersion classrooms…” George Daley tells the CBC that “The majority of students in non-French immersion classrooms struggle academically” and “it’s important non-immersion students be treated equally.” Daley says more teachers are needed in non-immersion classrooms.
