Discussed at Moncton Council last night…How to pay $4.2 million of the $112 million cost of the new Downtown Centre….city staff stress that the project is not over budget…but there are some extra costs that the city has to cover…like public wi-fi for the centre…the fancy outdoor plaza with the skating rink…stuff like that. The Times & Transcript reports that council didn’t make any decisions last night but borrowing the money and raising taxes were both discussed…

Health experts say that “we are in for a very bad flu” this year. Usually it’s late December when it hits…but officials say that New Brunswick has had over 40 cases of the flu since August…over 30 hospitalizations…and one death…and it’s been extra bad around the rest of the world so far this year. They’re recommending that if you haven’t already gotten vaccinated that you do so…flu shots are free for anyone over 65, under 18, or with certain health conditions. $25 for the rest of us.
